You shouldn’t really blame GSP for not finishing.

#1 He is exciting and if you weren’t so bias towards Matt you’d realize this.

#2 It’s the opposition’s(Opponent) job to take the belt away from GSP.

#3 You have uprising young talent that are just training at a young age. Or that are becoming gem’s with a in depth talent that have been surfacing in the UFC. Jon Jones/GSP etc etc.

So the time frame is completely different.(I mean as the young hungry lions training at a young age and being inspired by the pioneers in UFC/MMA like GSP looking up to Matt Hughes as an idol.)

I can agree with you that Matt Hughes will not fight each round to round. Matt puts it on the line like he has the belt around his waist each fight.

By the way Matt that was an inspiring interview. Only because you touched on so many subjects and it’s very clear how you think about them. You take your time before answering and answer intelligently. You’re very honest with your opinion and I respect that. Even though I’ve disagreed with some of the things you have posted. I have respect for your opinion and am religiously on this site. I also am athiest and open minded though. So you’re really giving Christians a positive light.

Regarding the Women’s Division. I do believe it would pick up fast if DW and the FB’s decided to add the division. I truly think everyone would be paying attention to the women’s division. It would especially bring in more females to watching UFC/MMA. It wouldn’t necessarily ruin the image of mma at all. It may even catch more attention because both genders are participating and on the biggest stage(UFC).

I do agree with you though Matt. I personally don’t want to see a girls face get bruised and battered. So I have mixed feelings about it.

I think GSP needs to learn how to finish his opponents before we can start talking about him as the most dominant WW champion ever. During Matt’s run as welterweight champion, he had 9 victories as champion (where he walked into the octagon as the WW champ and walked out of the octagon as champ). Of those 9 victories, only one went to a decision (against Sean Sherk at UFC 42), meaning that Matt was able to finish his opponents about 88% of the time while he held the belt. GSP has defended his belt 5 times since his rematch with Matt Serra and 4 of those 5 fights ended with decisions. Meaning that, as the title holder, GSP only finishes his opponents 20% of the time. That hardly qualifies him as “most dominant welterweight champion ever.”

Matt while most of what you said was pretty accurate. I do have to strongly disagree with one of your comments. That on womens mma. While I understand your thoughts on not wanting to watch women hit eachother. By saying that you don’t want to see women fight and dana should drop the womens division from the strikeforce roster, you are by fact limiting how a woman should make her living. Women wrestle, bjj, box, judo ect ect. They have every right to take part in mma if they so choose. While the elite and top ranked women are far and few between that should be the only reason to drop the division. Don’t you train women at your gym? This is just my observasion nothing more nothing less

GSP has stated that in a wrestling match he would lose to koscheck, in a striking only fight he would prob lose to alves, in a pure BJJ match he would probably lose to shields. But in MMA when you get to mix everything together he is the most dominate welterweight champion ever(no offense).

Great interview.. I’d definitely like to see you rematch Thiago. You were doing very well in that fight in the first round, I think if you alter a few things in terms of your game plan it would be a very interesting fight.

Matt I loved the interview I liked how you said the kimura was your bread and butter. Idk if you know this but you gave Joe Rogan the same answer in the post fight interview so it was pretty funny. :)
