When I counsel younger guys who are checking out a woman, usually with their hormones shutting down all thought processes, I toss them a few questions to try to think about. Basically, “do you think you can glorify God better with her as a partner/helper? How so?”

In your case, juggling the farm, kids, providing for family, and possibilities for ministry/community… WHat set of options on your plate work together to Glorify God best? Funny, my pastor is reading a book with the college kids. I love the long subtitle about random verses etc. Mine is in the mail, but it was recommended :)

You looked good in your standup, but I think if you would have wrestled him first and wore him down with our power against the cage or top position on the ground there would be no way he could hit you hard from the bottom,, and he definetley could not submit you . I was hoping for a quick take down and top control, but who am I to have a game plan, I am 40 years old and on SWAT and it is fun beating the young boys at P.T. dont leave till you are ready!!!!!!!!!

Matt, your standup did look much improved in your fight with koscheck. Your punches were tight and crisp and very technical. You def had kos on the defense. But being honest (I’m also honest when I critique gsp), what happened was that koscheck had the power punches. Same reason why sam stout lost to stevens a few years back. Stout had the technique but stevens had the power. While it is your decision to continue fighting, I just don’t think you can hang with the young guys anymore. Same thing with chuck liddell and crocop. They got KO’d too many times and sooner or later one of them is going to end up with serious brain damage (luckily chuck retired before that happened in the octogan, but whe’ll see what he is like in 5 years). While I’m not your biggest fan (more cause of your politcal views and relegion) you are still a fighter I have much respect for and seeing you end up looking like chuck or mirko in his last couple of fights isn’t something anyone is wanting too see.

Your entrance is epic by the way lol. Its almost worth 44.95 itself. Cause im a hank fan and u my friend fit it perfectly. Just wanted to say your standup looked great that 1st round. Good to see you have worked your tail off and you have respectable hands now. Wish u woulda developed em like this years ago but its all good. These new guys coming up are just great everywhere and your getting older so it just sucks cause I wish a 30-32 year old hughes with the hands now could fight these guys it would be a way different story. Where was these punks at after you smashed gracie!? No one called out the most dominant fighter in the sport. Im hoping u give us one more win. Im your biggest fan and your the best damn welterweight of all times! God bless

Matt, Whatever you decide in my mind you are my favorite fighter until the end for what you have done for this sport. You made me a ufc fan and I’ve met you twice and you are a true champion both in the sport and in life. Tough decision, you have nothing more to prove that is for sure. I think you looked good in your last fight and agree you just got caught. Again, very tough decision but no matter you are the best ever in your division be proud of that and thanks for keeping us close in your life. God Bless, good luck hunting.

matt im so excited to find out that ur going to be in clive, iowa at max muscle next saturday. its been a dream of mine to meet my hero and shake his hand and get an autograph and its finally going to happen. i cant wait til then to meet you and hope u dont retire because ur my hero and still have more fights in u.
