America’s Hunters

   April 19th, 2013

Someone sent me this email and I thought it was worth sharing with everybody:

The world’s largest army…America’s hunters!
I had never thought about this…

pic2

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

pic3

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.
Allow me to restate that number:
600,000

Over the last several months, Wisconsin’s hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

pic4

More men under arms than in Iran.

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

pic5

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan’s 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It’s millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting… it’s not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s a matter of national security.

********************pic6********************

That’s why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.

Overall it’s true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don’t possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain…
What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens???

(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON’T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

For the sake of our freedom, don’t ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

i’m 100% behind the right to bear arms but “gun regulation” is *not* the same as “gun confiscation.” i’m okay with background checks (a form of government regulation) at gun shows if it means someone with a criminal record will be denied a gun. now if gun regulators come out and say “we need to disarm all americans” that’s a totally different story. last i checked no one has outlawed hunting or said all citizens need to turn in their firearms.

From CNS News.com-A 8th grader was suspended from a West Virginia School for wearing a NRA T-Shirt.

Roger Peterson Says:

Thankgoodness 100 fellow students stood up for that suspended West Virginia 8th grader. All wearing that NRA T-Shirt!

Thanked the West Virginia 8th grader 100 fellow students for standing up for what was right, what they could wear to school.

TEMPLE Says:

Good lord, Matt! How come you have so much trouble figuring out that gun control for protecting citizens is very different than disarming America’s hunters?

By the way, the reason most nations avoid invasion is not the size of their respective redneck populations. You think an atom bomb is worried about some dude with an underbite who has a license to cork Bambi? You have to learn to falsify!

NateR Says:

TEMPLE,
You have to learn to stop stereotyping and being so closed-minded if you want people to take you seriously. Who said anything about “rednecks” or underbites? We’re talking about hunters here who span just about every possible demographic. Your condescending and bigoted remarks do nothing but hurt your argument.

Also, gun control for “protecting citizens” has never worked. If you notice, the areas in the United States with the most strict gun control laws also have the highest crime rates. So, it could be argued that gun control actually makes crime worse. The best way to protect a nation’s citizens is to give them the power to protect themselves.

Matt,
Great to meet you at the NRA convention today. I’m the girl who you were skeptical of being a true fan. Thx for the picture&autograph. :)

Matt,
I agree with your post above, but I really wanted to ask you what you thought about all the TRT usage in the UFC now? Do you know if the UFC is planning on doing anything about it?
Thanks and God bless.

Rob Says:

Hey Matt how was the WWE event last night in St. Louis? Hopefully you post some pics up, I know in the past a lot of WWE guys have come to UFC events including the Undertaker. Hope things are well, sure do miss seeing you fight buddy.

Hunt Talk Says:

AS a Canadian and a hunter I have to agree with the above blog. Now If only hunters could just get past any bickering over styles of hunting, seasons, quotas . legalities and ethics just imagine what they could accomplish as a combined group of individuals.’There is no need for force when a well armed nation can defend itself if provoked or attacked. I for one am thank full for my neighbours to the south. With gun control firmly entrenched in Canada, Great Britain and Australia I wonder how many hunters could combine to come together as an “army”?
