Chuck and Dancing with the Stars
September 22nd, 2009

Well, Chuck performed last night on Dancing with the Stars. Those of you who watch the show know that you can call in to keep people on the show. So let’s all give Chuck as much support as we can and call in to try to keep him there. You can call 1-800-868-3402 or text VOTE to 3402, to vote for Chuck. You can call or text from any phone up to 7 times. ![]() Well, the fights were interesting, my boy Rich had an off night. Vitor looked great. Now, Rich will go back to the drawing board a little bit and figure out why he couldn’t get his rhythm going. My boy Brian Foster lost, but we knew he was going up against a tough wrestler and that he might get taken down. We trained for that fight but it just didn’t go our way. I find Koscheck calling me out kind of interesting and I actually don’t know why he is doing that. I was used to kids doing this when I was the champ, but as you know I don’t have the belt now and I’m puzzled as to why Koscheck wants to fight me and not the champion in the weight class. I have no interest in fighting Koscheck and, as he was showing everybody, he’s just a kid. As of yet, the UFC has never come to me and asked me to fight him. For the Bible verse, this week I decided to go with one of my favorite verses:

I find it a compliment that he has asked for you. I do find it funny that he implies that your ducking him since you’ve never ducked anyone lol. I look forward to your next fight and will show my support

I’d love to see you rip Josh’s head off. I can’t stand that guy. I was hoping you’d put up an entry about Chuck. I voted for him as much as possible last night and my sister got all of her friends to use their votes on him as well. Go Chuck. Let’s hope he gets more in the groove next week of I fear his time might be over soon on the dance floor. :o(

Matt, Koschek and Swick both have ego problems. It is a compliment but at the same time I agree with you because you would think they would be screaming for a title shot. I guess they think if they beat you that’s an automatic bid to the champ. That is a huge compliment, I just want you back in the octagon. I watched Chuck also, I was all smiles to see him like that. Awesome Bible verse again as well champ. God Bless and thanks

Matt I think you can call from any phone but only text for ATT users
September 22nd, 2009 at 5:59 pm
i think koscheck asked for you cause he figures IF he could beat you it would look really nice on his record.
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Matt you have to fight Kos to bring him back down to reality …it would definetely end with u winning by RN choke! Unfortuneately I can’t get myself to vote for Chuck …that was horrible dancing last night! I did not read the bible verse…looking forward to reading your next blog! Matt, who are your top 3 fighters that you would like to fight?
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Kos needs to wake up from his dream of beating you…he would get a lesson in Hughes ground and pound.

Christians have a great deal to be excited and joyous about. Our Father is the Creator and Owner of this world. Our eternal inheritance includes riches beyond comprehension. (Ephesians 3:8). Our Big Brother is the strongest, most loyal, and faithful Friend in Whom we could ever hope. (Romans 8:29; Revelation 1:5)
However, Christians must be careful about giving in to frustration, since the world we are passing through does not share our views. Knowing our privileged standing before the Almighty (even though we do not deserve it), there may be a tendency to be combative with those who oppose us on behalf of the ungodly system of this world.
The Bible is clear about the Christian’s behavioral duties toward those who are lost: “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.” Titus 3:2
What will help me control my temper when confronted with the evil of worldly unbelievers? The memory that I was once like them: “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.” Titus 3:3
Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is strength which is brought under control.

I think that Fitch, Swick, and Koscheck all just wanna make a name for themselves by fighting the best there is. I can’t blame them for wanting the fight, cause you’re a big time challenge for anyone. Whatever you and the matchmakers want to do, I’ll be standing by ready to watch and root for Matt Hughes. Good luck and God bless!

Matt dont wast your time with nobodys like kos you should call out GSP and show that canadian what horse power is all about
September 24th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Great perspective. Koscheck thinks he is a boxer now, and he does have some much improved striking skills. I hope you are doing a lot of boxing/striking training because that what everyone is going to come at you with after GSP and Alves. You know that already, partner. We are close in age and speed goes first but strength and power remain. George Foreman was a perfect example of that. You have the strength and power. Eye of the tiger, Rock, eye of the tiger.

I think Kos asked for Matt because Kos had Matt on the radar when Matt was champ – everyone had Matt on the radar at that time and I think Kos never lost that interest. When Matt was champ I’m sure a lot of people thought “oh yeah I can beat that guy” Kos never ended up as a belt contender so in the past it wasn’t possible. I think Matt is better, but Josh is still wanting an opportunity to resolve his question.
peace to all,
rick

DO NOT fight him. Horrible match up for you and I do not want to see him ever be able to say he beat you.
September 24th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
I think Kos is calling Matt out because what young gun doesn’t want to fight a legend? That, and I think a lot of his fans want to see it, I’ve seen a few say as much here as well. I would however hate to see Matt move down in competition as I truly believe he has one more run at the belt left in his tank.
Having said that, I enjoyed Koscheck knocking Frank Trigg smooth out – LOL.
I think Matt should look to challenge the number one contender in the Welterweight division and after getting the “W” he should take one more shot at GSP!!!

I question Kosckeck’s desire and motivation by calling out anyone who isn’t the champion. This is a brutal sport, with all of the training and sacrifice involved, my question is why put yourself through all of it if you have no desire in fighting and beating the champion. He is mentally weak if he does not desire to fight anyone except he who holds the belt!

Ah, lots to talk about this time! Chuck was obviously WAY out of his comfort zone but thought he did great. Id love to see him loosen up a little a just have some fun! Chuck is such a neat guy I know he could be great on DWTS just as he is well, everything else! As for as Koscheck……..wow! I was watching when he called you out and I just sat there in half disbelief and half hysterics! I like him as a fighter but really wasnt sure what he was thinking! Ahaha! I do think that for a young fighter to be able to be in the cage with great fighters like Randy, CHuck and yourself is an honor. Not sure who we are going to see you in the cage with next but either way I cant wait to see you again! Carla

Josh want’s to fight Hughes because no one but major champions and contenders have ever beaten him. Personally, I believe he wants a title bid, but he has seen the same thing I have in GSP’s recent fights. Despite his technical brilliance, (which is undeniable by any standards), he is starting to slow down physically. Two years ago, he would have knocked out Thiago in the first. I think Josh wants the belt, but he wants to be cautious and move into the title conversation slowly to give GSP more time to waste some gas. He wants to get some high profile wins under his belt before he tries. Not everyone is as confident as Matt Hughes. And here’s the only flaw in such a plan: Matt Hughes is not a tune-up for anyone. He is a contender and a higher-caliber fighter than Koscheck will ever be. In addition to what I believe are superior grappling skills by far, Hughes posseses a physical strength and a mental toughness far beyond anything Josh has yet to face. My prediction should the fight ever happen: TKO(strikes) at 2:00 of round 2.

Seems like guys from American Kickboxing Academy has a thing for Hughes. Here Mike Swick is talking about how they’ll keep calling Matt Hughes out like a game.

Just read an article by Mike Swick where he states that Fitch,Koscheck and Swick will keep calling Matt out as a game because they know he is scared and will never accept a bout with them.
Would love to see Matt beat any one of them especially Koshcheck.

Matt…
I’d love to know why you have “no interest” in fighting KOS…is it because he’s greatly improved and has a legitimate chance at beating you ?
I HATE Koscheck, I love to see him lose, I think he’s an arrogant, cocky idiot who needs his head pounded in, BUT he’s greatly improved his stand-up, and his wrestling is top notch.
I see the fight as a lose-lose scenario for you: If you win, you should have won because you are the former champ…and if you lose, well you lost to KOSCHEK of all people.
Why don’t you want to fight him Matt ? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks ,
Brad – Niagara Falls, Canada.

Matt,
I think a fight with Koscheck would be an great bout. The guy has already lost to the St. Pierre, and Alves, which
to me since their is no ranking system truly in the UFC leaves you as the true number three contender since you beat Sierra who was champion before St. Pierre. Taking this fight puts you back in a hunt for a title if you still want it, and if you lose makes Koscheck legitimate again.
September 30th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I think you’re getting too old to fight. Although koshcheck is not at the level that you used to fight at, it’ll be a good match up for you at this time in your career. You can still kick my butt tho :)
September 30th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
i think this is hysterrical becaue i was the one who said hughes should fight koscheck like 6 blogs back. and then he calls u out. ROFL. im genius whatever u decide matt. u would do very well. koscheck is a wrestler. u r the 2nd best wrestlerin the world behhind gsp. u wuldhave no problem teaching him a thing or two.
