UFC 106 – Brian Foster

   November 24th, 2009

Sorry about the super late blog, I’ve been traveling and Nate’s been busy helping Mark in the field. My buddy, Boomer, spent some time in Hillsboro, here is his little story from when he was around town:

Went over to Ohio for a deer hunt at Stillwater, had a great time, great accommodations, and saw plenty of deer. Here are some pictures from that hunt:

Also if anybody is interested in going to Canada for a deer hunt, I know my buddy, Grant, would take care of them. The link to Grant’s place is Buck Paradise.

This last weekend was also the first of three deer hunting gun seasons in Illinois. Joey and I went out all weekend and had a great time together. Joey wanted to shoot every buck that walked by and I ended up letting him shoot a mature 5-point deer that was injured and he loved it. Joey is an excellent hunter and is getting better all the time. We’ll get some pictures posted next time.

Last Saturday was UFC 106, HIT Squad’s own Brian Foster fought a very tough Brock Larsen. I knew the match up was going to be tough, so we really put our time in with Brian at the gym. If you watch the fight, you will know that Brian did very well and almost made Brock look bad. Brock’s a great guy, I’ve trained with him a lot and I’m sure he’ll rebound from this.

Here’s a forward I got that I thought was interesting:

He is a Chief Master Sergeant in the USAF

As high as you can go in enlisted ranks (E-9)

Wouldn’t it be fitting if this went completely around the world!…..

John Gebhardt’s wife, Mindy, said that this little girl’s entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head…but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John’s hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.

He is a real Star of the war, and represents what America is trying to do.

This, my friends, is worth sharing. Go for it!! You’ll never see things like this in the news. Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don’t, but the American public needs to see pictures like this and needs to realize that what we’re doing over there is making a difference. Even if it is just one little girl at a time.

The Bible verse for this week:

O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them! (Psalm 40:5)

I’ll see everybody next week. -matt

That is one awesome buck, congrats!! I’ve been working 7 days a week since my vacation to Colorado and I haven’t been in the woods enough, I’ve seen a couple of monsters but no shots yet. I was wondering when you were going to blog, I know you have been busy. I hope to hear when you are fighting soon, all these fighters keep backing out and I just knew they would call you but not yet. That Canada hunt would be awesome as well, probably a bit out of my price range. God Bless and thanks for getting back with us.

That poor little girl. I can’t imagine the things she saw..lots of prayers are with her and the troops that are fighting for our freedoms.

It was a pleasant surprise to see you on our flight back from Orlando with our family traveling in coach. That’s a story not many of my friend believed, and my wife wouldn’t let me open up my jacket to show my Army of the One shirt I had on. The funny part about all of it, is that I didn’t even notice you until my 5 year old daughter grabbed my shirt and said ” Hey Daddy there’s the guy from up home that fights on TV all the time.” Take care!

Having spent 2 years in Iraq, I can attest to 100’s of stories like the one you posted, but unfortunately those are the things that the media will never show. I wrote a letter while in Iraq about all the good things that we were doing and sent it to numerous chicago-land papers and the only paper that would publish my story and pictures was my own little hometown agency. I’m so glad I got the hell out of the city and moved to Hillsboro. More power to you for posting this. Have a great holiday with your family!

Jerad Hoffmann Says:

I like hearing stories like that one as well. I’m a huge patriot to our country and our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. I just recently got back from my first tour in Iraq about three weeks ago and I cannot stop telling the good news. We were stationed out of Mosul right where the crazy stuff happened; I’ve never seen a place like that before in my life. The city was like a bombed out city from a WWII movie, it was truly a humbling experience. Our efforts in MND-N are improving every rotation, and I’m happy to say I was there. I wish all the troops overseas a happy Thanks Giving; it can be tough being away from your family during the holidays. But to tell you the truth I was in Camp Beuring Kuwait this time last year and the food and decorations were awesome. There is nothing like your own family, but there is truly nothing like the Army family. Go Ordnance!

Stories like that are the reason I still support what we’re doing in spite of all the negative press. I live in Colorado Springs. There is a higher concentration of millitary personel here than in any other US city. I know so many heroes and can vouch for the quality of our fighting men overseas. Good on you doing your part to get the news out about the heroics of the greatest kind of people our country has to offer.

As for the last two UFC event, I have to say I expected Griffin to win by a wider margin, if not finish the fight. But I don’t believe this fight is an indication that Forrest is slowing down. I think it just means that Tito might hove more left in the tank than I thought. Although I still don’t respect his attitude. Would love to hear your imput.

Matt I’m a big fan of yours, my buddy called today and told me I was on you page.

Nice buck Matt, congrats. Hope to see you fight soon.
God bless.

Daniel Blackwell Says:

The picture of Chief Gebhart is truly awesome example of what he’s all about. Having worked with him, I can tell you he is truly among the best of us. More of good news like this, is what needs to be shared and told the people around the world. God Bless

Sawyer Says:

umm I’ve never killed a deer before so I don’t exactly know if its common but I love how the deer bleeds from it’s mouth.
